Let the 2012 Bluesfest rumours and speculation begin!

What better way to bring in the New Year than with some fresh Bluesfest speculation and rumours. Based on your comments below, some possible performers include:

  • Blue Rodeo is confirmed (but you can pretty much pencil them in for every year)
  • Coldplay (they're on a North American tour this summer with no date yet in Ottawa)
  • Foster The People
  • Silversun Pickups
  • Steve Miller
  • Iron Maiden
  • The Beach Boys
  • Scorpions
  • Kiss
  • Boston
  • George Thorogood
  • Flaming Lips
  • John Mellencamp
  • Dave Matthews Band
  • Metric

Keep in mind this is all speculative based on touring schedules and wishful thinking.  We'll keep updating this list over the next few months until the official line-up is released.

Who would you like to see at Bluesfest this year?  Add your comments below!

  2. I think it is about time we had Jully Black here. She is amazing and a great community builder. She plays to sell out houses all over the world but again as a lot of Canada's best of the arts...we seem to ignore them here at home.

Bring back the Black Keys for a real show. We were ripped off last time both due to the weather but so much planning. To be cut off 15 mins into a set because of the by-law and only letting them play to 11:30 was BS. We stood out in that rain for hour and half waiting because they would not make any announcements.

death cab for cutie should be coming back due to last years epic stage collapse. It seems their tour schedule would accomodate this. Though I saw them after the drama last year and they looked terrified so maybe they will never return to Ottawa.

Yeah..lets bring Micheal Bolton..people need to go to the tulip festival to those guys ..this is a Rock fest people !
I would like to see Deep Purple or Uriah Heep becuase I am getting old and only older people support Blues fest becuase they can afford it..young kids spend their money on ecstasy and drugs. not tickets to shows..lol

  112. Any chance we'll get Aerosmith (given that they'll be in Montreal and Quebec City at the time of Bluesfest)?

And don't the Smashing Pumpkins have an album to tour soon?

MGMT and Tame Impala are out with a record this fall and also playing Osheaga. Hopefully they'll stop at bluesfest?

Of Montreal would be just AWESOME.

Also The Dirty Projectors are playing. It says on Last.fm they're booked for Bluesfest.

There's a big chance Dan Mangan is also playing!

I am sad to see that we are getting further away from The Blues, and that we have phenomenal talents in Canada and Ottawa that are ignored. It's time to call this Ottawa Music-fest and let someone take over Bluesfest.
