Bluesfest adds Just for Laughs comedy line-up

Nine nights of comedy have been added to this year's Bluesfest line-up at The Barney Danson Theatre, inside the War Museum at the Bluesfest site.  (Here's the full music line-up this year.)

  • July 5, 6, 7: Just For Laughs - Relationship Show Featuring Alonzo Bodden and Robert KellyAlonzo Bodden: International headliner Alonzo Bodden has performed comedy worldwide including Just For Laughs in Montreal, Kilkenny Ireland Comedy fest, Sydney, Australia, and Brighton Beach in the UK. He’s also entertained the troops everywhere from Iraq to Greenland. His brand new one-hour comedy special Who's Paying Attention? premiered on Showtime and he can be seen as a host of the new ITV show Inside the Vault. Introduced to America on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Alonzo Bodden was runner-up on Season 2 and came back to win it all on Last Comic Standing Season 3, “The Best of the Best.” Since then he’s been a regular on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and a favourite guest on Adam Corolla’s radio show and podcast.
Robert Kelly: Robert Kelly has overcome many hardships in his life, all of which have made him the actor/comedian he is today. From his early days as a kid growing up in Boston in and out of Juvenile Hall, Kelly's unique, honest take on his own life and his relationships make his comedy clever, abrasive, funny, and yet refreshingly vulnerable.
  • July 8, 9, 10: Just For Laughs - The Nasty Show Featuring Ari Shaffir and Big Jay Oakerson
Ari Shaffir is an American comedian, writer and actor currently living in Los Angeles, California. Shaffir received a B.A. in English from the University Of Maryland, College Park in 1999 and he also attended Yeshiva University. He has performed live at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, California and has been featured on two National Lampoon DVDs: Lost Reality and Lost Reality 2. He’s a very funny man!
Big Jay Oakerson: From the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, PA, stand-up comedian Big Jay Oakerson has emerged as one of the most sought after attractions in the industry. Only a seven year veteran—a ‘youngling’ in the world of stand-up—Jay has already performed at two of the most prestigious festivals in the business: the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, and the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, CO.
  • July 11, 12, 13: Just For Laughs - Canadian Show Featuring Angelo Tsarouchas and Joey Elias
Angelo Tsarouchas: Ottawa-born comedy heavyweight Angelo Tsarouchas is a Just For Laughs Festival veteran, whose ability to connect to audiences everywhere keeps him in high demand in North America and internationally. He has been a special guest on the Russell Peters World Tour and Vince Vaughn’s Comedy Roadshow. His one-hour Showtime special Bigger is Better received rave reviews and has 14 million viewers and counting. Angelo currently stars in the award-winning Steve Skrovan filmFred and Vinnie, and is featured in the comedy documentary Just Like Us, which has opened all across the US.
Joey Elias started doing comedy 11 years ago after losing a bet to his friend. Well things have worked out pretty good since then. He has since appeared six times at Montreal's International Comedy Festival "Just For Laughs". His two gala performances have been televised. Joey has also appeared on his own Canadian National TV special "Comedy Now!" and now travels across North America, headlining clubs and making numerous TV appearances. Joey is also spreading his horizons into the realm of acting, with appearances in "The Art of War", "Redeemer" and in the film "Tomorrow" starring Dennis Quaid.
