Great photos from the Ottawa Race Weekend

Here are some of my favourite photos from the Ottawa Race Weekend.  Thanks to all of the photographers for letting us post the photos here.  (We're always looking for great photos of life in Ottawa - please email your pics to feedback@ottawastart.com.)

The road near the water station turns into a green carpet of Gatorade.  After the runners pass through, a team of kids with hockey sticks go on clean-up duty.  Photo by Brett Serjeanston.

It was fun watching for updates from marathoner Kristine Simpson.  She brought her Blackberry along for the run  and took pics throughout the race.

The new route brought the race through many of Ottawa's urban main streets.  This is a shot on Wellington Street in  Hintonburg where it looks like half the neighbourhood came out to cheer on the runners.  Photo by @foodieprints
Like a scene out of a bizarre science fiction movie, racers get their foil blankets at the end of the race.  Photo courtesy of @iRunNation

The Flash had to cheer from the sidelines after being disqualified for using his super powers in the race.  Photo by  Tanya aka @sobbee.

More people..... looking behind me
I like this photo because it gives you an idea of the sheer number of people who took part in the race.   This is at the starting line at Laurier & Elgin.  Nearly 40,000 people ran in the various races over the weekend. Photo by Alexandra Yarrow.
